The Proposal

The element of surprise was never part of my plan to ask for Sharon’s hand in marriage.

After browsing at rings in several mall jewlery stores we (ok, she) picked one out during a stop at the Shane Company. Of course the ring wasn’t going to be ready that day, and I had hoped to plan something elaborate to formally ask at a later time.

After weeks of Sharon impatiently asking me if I picked the ring up yet, I decided to ask her in a simple yet romantic way: to take her to all the places we went to on our first date. First, for our traditional Friday night of dining out I suggested Chevy’s. During dinner I suggested we walk down to the Borders book store to browse around. At this point we hadn’t been back to that bookstore since the night we first met, and of course, Sharon caught on to what I had up my sleeve. After the book store we went to Starbucks and got some coffee in the drive thru, just as we did on our first date. After a few sips I couldn’t wait any longer, and at the same moment on our first date as I kissed her, I asked Sharon to give me the honor of having her hand in marriage.

Luckily she said yes, otheriwse you wouldn’t be reading this right now.
