How We Met

That's right, we met online. We both had an account with Yahoo!Personals and Bryan emailed me first. He didn't have a picture on his profile, so I was hesitant to respond (how shallow of me, huh?) but I did. Then I didn't hear from him again for a few months. The email said something like, "Hey, remember me? Things have been hectic, I just moved, blah blah." He sends me a crappy picture of him, and we exchange emails about four times until we finally decide to meet.

It was Wednesday, September 1, 2004. We meet at Chevy's, in Elk Grove. I remember trying really hard to be late, because I'm always a few minutes early wherever I go, and this time I didn't want to nervously wait around. We had dinner (and I had a margarita) and talked about all sorts of stuff. I felt completely comfortable, which was unusual, because at the time, I had gone on a string of uncomfortable first dates. After Chevy's, we walked around Borders, discussing the kinds of books we like, debated which Star Trek series was best, revealing our true geekiness. I'm sure neither of us wanted to go home after that, so we opted for a nearby Starbuck's. We drove to the one down the street, but it was packed. No worries, we thought, there's another Starbuck's two streets over. That one was super busy, too. Wtf, it's Wednesday night. I think while approaching the fourth Starbuck's, we just went through the drive-thru, parked, and talked the night away... I mean, kissed the night away. (:

After that night, I knew Bryan was the one. I went to work the next day, exclaiming "I'm in love!" My coworkers all thought I was crazy. But I was right. Before we knew it, we were planning our future together.
